Maria Mitzali
I see myself as a documentary photographer although I am not interested in social subjects or the depiction of truth. I photograph what's near, I do not leave my space to observe another one. My photographs are blow-ups of a personal diary, concentrating mainly on beauty and music-chained change of state within time. They are images of moments I want to live forever.
I think I am photographing instinctively and not rationally. I see photography only as an agent of collective memory, a system of random selection of fragments of the 'eye world', the world connected mostly to the reality-illusion relationship. I know what I am recording is not the objective real, it is a point of view. They are my exploded-exploited-exposed moments of magic. Last updated on 9th January 2007
