Karl Musson
The relationship between the viewer and that which is viewed is a primary aspect of my work. Making the act of looking a part of that which is seen, serves to emerse the observer into the realm of his/her own observation. What it is hoped to achieve by doing this, is the break-down of the distinction between these two parties - the observer and the observed.
To cite a simple example, if one were to stand between a projector and the surface onto which the light is being projected, it would not be possible to see the image projected onto one's own back. At the same time, one's own shadow would become a part of the total image seen. It is in this context that light is a consistant medium of my work. It is that which is common to both the act of observation that the state of being visible.
