Slowfall Projects

About Slowfall

Slowfall projects is composed of seven artists: John Elliott, Claire Haddon, Nicholas Kaplony, Sean Langton, Maria Mitzali, Karen Strip and Karl Musson who have known and studied and occasionally exhibited together since 1994. As Slowfall Projects we have decided to work together in parallel with our own particular interests and projects with the basic aim of creating local and international exhibitions of art in unconventional venues. Between us we have exhibited or created art in places as disparate as woods, beaches, castles, parks, matchboxes and shoe boxes and the Amazon Rainforest... not of course forgetting the odd gallery.

Slowfall's work continues to be located in spaces where the works identity as 'art' is uncertain. When people go to museums, what they see is museum exhibit and is thought of as such. Thus, no matter what is exhibited, it is tamed and kept within the cage of a museum exhibit. Similarly art can be given more life when status is not defined and the audience does not know if some thing is 'art' or 'life'.
